NOCTURNALIES
Maybe for the first time, I wanted to show not a process, not a structure, but a background on which something’s happening. Even it’s not revealed. And even it’s nothing really happening.

Four NOCTURNALIES, along with other cycles for piano¹, were written as a dedication to Antonii Baryshevskyi’s 30th anniversary. These compositions are kind of musical offering to a great talented pianist whom the composer was truly inspired.
Each of four miniatures is a micro-changed version of the same theme. Like the same music, the same view, repeated with a discreet, real subtle variation.
